CSIR

- It stand for Council of Scientific and Industrial Research.

- It was established by the government of India on 26 September, 1942 as an autonomous body that has emerged as the largest research and development organisation in India. 

- It is funded by the Ministry of Science and Technology but operates as an autonomous body through the Societies Registration Act, 1860. 

- The President of CSIR is “Prime Minister of India”[currently Mr. Narendra Damodar Das  Modi as on today].

- The research and development activities of CSIR include aerospace engineering, structural engineering, ocean science, life science, metallurgy, chemicals, mining, food, petroleum, leather, and environment science.
